The Authors
Joe Francis, FSA, CFA, is the author of several actuarial textbooks and study manuals. As an actuarial educator, Francis has 20 years of experience focusing on Exams FM, MFE, and IFM. He teaches at Purdue University Fort Wayne, where he is the Director of the Actuarial Program. Prior to becoming an educator, he was employed in the insurance industry for 15 years, working in many areas, including reinsurance pricing, asset modeling, pensions, and investment management.
Chris Ruckman, FSA, also has 20 years of experience in actuarial education, focusing on Exams FM and MFE. Prior to becoming an actuarial educator, he was employed in the insurance industry for 15 years, where he worked in universal life, reinsurance valuation, corporate planning, and corporate actuarial.
